Sketch of the Month - 3

Desktop, about 4*12, mixed media
I made this right before building my new computer in a Corsair 4000x case, and I was very excited, so I made this replica of the front panel with paint, acrylic sheets, and vinyl.

Unit Work

Unit 1

Self Portrait

Mobirise

Self Portrait on laser-evaporated wooden slab, 4*3ish, wood engraving, Dated December, 2020

Our first unit project involved self portraiture. I decided to use the school's laser cutter, and design a picture to be engraved using adobe illustrator. I made a filter that maintains depth data from the image to create a topographic effect. This self portrait was engraved onto a wooden block.

Unit 2

Interdisciplinary Ways of Making

Mobirise

Outside, 160mb, digital video, Dated January 2021

For the Interdisciplinary project, I wanted to experiment with digital media. I discovered a video editing technique called 'datamoshing' and I decided I wanted to make a short film utilizing it for visual flare.

Unit 3.1

The Human Body As Art

Mobirise

'Out Gardening', 5.3mb, photography, Dated May 2021

For this assignment, inspired by Humans of New York, I conducted a photo interview. I also made a website to display relevant information and other photos/multimedia that completed the experience.

Unit 3.2

Performance Art

Mobirise

A lesson in cymatics, N/A, performance art, Dated May 2021
For the Performance Art task, I demonstrated the resonant property of cymatics, live on a Google Meet call. I believe it was well received.

Unit 4

Independent Task

Fresh Air, 63mb, video game, Dated June 2021

I'm going to university for game design and interactive media, and I'm very passionate about making games. I spent a very long time working on a game called 'Fresh Air' as my final project and I very much enjoy the result. I was inspired by games in my childhood that used a limited color palette and pixelated graphics out of necessity, and I'm paying homage to those games while building on my ideas by creatively and strategically using limitation to my advantage. This contributes to the theming of the game, which is influenced by nostalgia and familiarity.
